This Privacy Policy explains how VAT Check EU (the “App”, “we”, “us”) handles information when you use our mobile application to validate European Union VAT numbers. We have built the App to collect as little personal data as possible.
Information we process
- VAT numbers you look up.The VAT numbers you enter are sent to the European Commission’s VIES service to be validated. We do not require these to be tied to your identity.
- Lookup history. Your history of validated VAT numbers is stored locally on your device. It is not uploaded to our servers and is removed when you clear your history or uninstall the App.
- Subscription and purchase data. Paid subscriptions are processed by Apple and managed through RevenueCat. We receive your subscription status (active or inactive) but never your full payment details.
- Technical and diagnostic data. We may process limited technical information (such as an anonymous device or installation identifier and error logs) to keep the service reliable.
How VAT validation works
When you validate a VAT number, the request is forwarded to the official EU VIES (VAT Information Exchange System) service through our API. The result returned by VIES (validity, and where available the registered company name and address) is provided by the relevant EU member state, not by us. We do not control or guarantee the accuracy of that data.
How we use information
- To provide VAT validation and return results to your device.
- To operate, maintain, and improve the App and our API.
- To manage subscriptions and verify entitlements.
- To diagnose problems and prevent abuse of the service.
We do not sell your personal data, and we do not use it for advertising or profiling.
Sharing with third parties
We share data only with providers needed to run the service:
- European Commission (VIES) — to validate the VAT numbers you submit.
- Apple — to process payments and manage subscriptions.
- RevenueCat — to manage and verify your subscription entitlements.
Data retention
Lookup history remains on your device until you delete it. We retain server-side technical logs only for as long as needed to operate and secure the service, after which they are deleted or anonymized.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, or delete your personal data, or to object to certain processing. You can clear locally stored history at any time from within the App. For any other request, contact us at support@vatcheck.eu.
Children
The App is intended for business use and is not directed at children under 16. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children.
Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the “Last updated” date above. Continued use of the App after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
